Submit a supported public video URL, choose a target language, and poll for a video and subtitle files. Subly supports more than 100 target language codes in its current API configuration. You need an active Business plan for this REST API.

The API also accepts an optional webhook_url; polling works without it. Processing time depends on video length and queue load.

FAQ

Does it work with private YouTube videos? No — only public URLs are supported. For private content, upload the video file directly via the Telegram bot.

How long does processing take? Processing time varies with video length, language pair, and queue load. Poll the job until it completes.

Can I translate audio files (MP3, podcasts)? The Business REST endpoint on this page accepts video URLs. For audio inputs, use the Subly app or the MCP audio tool when the MCP client is available.

What's the accuracy like? AI results can contain errors, especially with names, slang, and technical terms. Review subtitles before publishing.

Is there a webhook option? The API accepts a webhook_url parameter — Subly will POST the completed result to your endpoint when done, so you don't have to poll.

Do you offer a free trial for the API? The Starter/Standard/Pro plans support the mini app but not the REST API. Sign up for the Business plan to unlock API access. Contact us for a demo.
